|08:30 pm - Part 5: Of Masks and Cricket|
“Oh! Oh, the Duchess!” exclaimed the Rabbit to himself as he trotted along. “Oh, won’t she be savage if I’ve kept her waiting!”
“Excuse me?” said Nyssa. The Rabbit jumped in alarm, dropped the gloves and the mask, and scuttled away down the corridor as fast as he could go.
”Of course,” said Nyssa, “I am so large that he must have been frightened.” She picked up the gloves and the mask, and squinted through its eyeholes, murmuring “Goodness me, how strange it all is today! And yesterday, things went on as usual – ran around a bit, twice failed to get Tegan to Heathrow, nearly was turned into a monster – again! – much the usual things! Now, was I the same person when I got up this morning? But if I’m not me, then who in the world am I?”
She reflected on this a while.
“I’m sure I’m not Tegan, because I don’t have an overwhelming urge to go to Heathrow, and I don’t like Vegemite at all. And I’m sure I can’t be Adric, for I know all sorts of things, and he only knows about mathematics. Besides he’s he, and I’m I, and – oh dear, how very puzzling it all is! Let me see: do I know all the things I used to know? I’ll try and say ‘How doth the little...’ –“ and she took a deep breath and recited:
How doth the little cricketer
Retrieve his flying ball
And bowl a sticky-wicketer
Before he takes the fall!
How merrily he takes his bat
And like the master, Grace
He’ll knock the foe for six (Howzat!)
And fly off into space!

Re: This Part
Let me guess, the Dutchess turns out to be Polly...?
(I suspect that the Queen of Hearts, will turn out to be Tegan...).
